The 2010 USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium will provide attendees with a wide array of thought-provoking and informative plenary and track sessions on key challenges facing Corps officers and others in the public health community, new treatment strategies, successful case studies and much more.

Conference Highlights:

  • The opening day will feature a panel which is expected to include the three Department of Defense Surgeons General. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Regina Benjamin the newly-appointed U.S. Surgeon General. Dr. Howard Koh, the Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has been invited to deliver the opening keynote. Dr. Mary Wakefield, Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration will deliver the Wednesday keynote and RADM Scott Deitchman, USPHS, will close the conference with a talk on Leadership: Lessons from the Arts.

  • More than 40 track sessions will again be offered in the areas of: Promoting Healthy Behaviors; Improving Public Health Infrastructure; Preventing and Treating Chronic Disease; Expanding Access to Preventive Care and Quality Health Services; and Addressing the Rising Needs of Mental Health Disorders.

  • Tuesday will be Category Day with each of the 11 categories meeting individually. Learn more about the Category Day agendas.

  • The Anchor & Caduceus dinner on Monday evening is included in the registration fee and will feature a keynote address by RADM Christine M. Bruzek-Kohler, USN, who is the Commander, Naval Medical Center San Diego and Navy Medicine West.

  • Continuing education credits will be available for all categories
