Continuing Education Credits
2008 Symposium
The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is the accredited sponsor for the 2008 U.S. Public Health Service Scientific and Training Symposium. Below is an overview of the various types of credit being sought for this year's Symposium. Detailed information on approved CEs will be posted as it becomes available.
DENTISTS:
The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is an authorized provider of ADA CERP dental continuing education credits.
DIETITIANS:
The Symposium organizers anticipate applying to the Indian Health Service, Nutrition and Dietetics Training Program (N&DTP) which is accredited by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) to sponsor continuing professional education for Registered Dietitians.
ENGINEERS/ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICERS:
The Indian Health Serviceis is an authorized Continuing Education Unit (CEU) provider member of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training.
HEALTH SERVICES OFFICERS :
For psychologists and social workers see separate entries. Others may apply for general credit (see below).
NURSES:
The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation.
PHARMACISTS:
The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
PHYSICIANS:
The Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
PSYCHOLOGISTS:
The Symposium organizers are currently investigating accrediting possibilitiess for contiuing education for psychologists.
SCIENTISTS:
For psychologists and social workers see separate entries. Others may apply for general credit (see below).
SOCIAL WORKERS:
The Symposium organizers will apply to the National Association of Social Workers.
THERAPISTS:
Therapists may apply for general credits (see below).
VETERINARIANS:
An application will be submitted to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards
GENERAL CEs:
In addition to the above-listed continuing education credits, which will be issued by the specified organizations, any conference attendee can apply for general education credits for sessions and hours attended, which can be submitted to the appropriate body (e.g. licensing or certification agency) for a discipline not covered by the above-listed organizations. This general education certificate will be issued by the Commissioned Officers Foundation .
