Emerging Leaders Scholarship Fund

The PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation established the Emerging Leaders Scholarship Fund in 2011 to help underwrite invaluable continuing education and training for young public health leaders. The Fund covers registration fees for qualified individuals who would like to attend the yearly USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium but need financial assistance to obtain this goal. Educational scholarships to attend the conference are available to qualified members of the Commissioned Corps (rank of 03 and below), students and emerging federal civil service and tribal, state and local public health leaders.

On their behalf we are inviting organizations and individuals to join us in funding as many scholarships as possible for the 2012 USPHS Symposium.  In these difficult economic times and in light of government cutbacks these scholarships have become more critical than ever! In 2011 the Commissioned Officers Foundation, in cooperation with its partners, was able to cover the registration fees of over 100 individuals. 

A donation of $500 underwrites the registration fee for TWO Junior Officers or Equivalent Civil Servants.

By underwriting  scholarships you can help make this continuing education and networking opportunity available to emerging young leaders in public health who might not otherwise be able to attend. This is an unprecedented opportunity to help enhance the field of public health. Please join us in this important effort.
